That gram of cold water hash I pressed above is the best and cleanest rosin I have made to date. Great to watch and easy to clean in a clear banger(if you’re into that) I’m pretty sure I will only be pressing water hash as long as I have access to the strains I like and will definitely get me to try new strains. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I possess mainly a theoretical understanding of pressing hash, so I'm really not much experience here. What I can say, in terms of taste, quality, and cleanliness of use, squished bubble hash is an order of magnitude above squished flower alone. It is the best of the best sort of thing. Indeed, the best thing I've ever personally consumed was squished bubble "full-melt" at my clients's lab. :starstruck: He used almost no pressure! Basically, just the gravity on the upperplate. Used some crazy low micron size (25u?) in the bag.
But I've never actually done it because my hash never turned out very good. So I moved on to other extraction methods :nerd:
Re Press Club, I love them. I like the "stiffness" of them. Easier to form and work with. For the flower I've been getting, I'm using 160's at the moment and am happy.
Key Lime Pie (like GDP)
180f (actual plate temp) 160sec
Prepress. No bag (what’s up with that lately?).
The richness of taste.
The negative of no bag is the banger does get dirtier. But when you’re in a hurry and feeling lazy and out of rosin. :joke:
Anyone press CBD strains, not hemp, strains that have both cbd and thc. I have pressed two different strains and both taste terrible, like burnt before it should. It’s possible I applied too much pressure on the first strain I pressed but didn’t go over 800psi on the puck on the second. One isn’t the best tasting as flower but dabbing it is worse. Both still very effective just don’t look forward to hitting them.
The dispensary I get the Sour Tsunami flower from grows it and also makes shatter and live resin from it or the trim. The shatter has a chemical taste to me but the live resin is excellent, my rosin just not as good. They all get me to the same place though. I have been looking for strains of flower to press that the same grower makes trates out of thinking they use it because it has good yields.
Ok, ever since I upgraded from a 3t 3x3 plate press to a 10t 3x5 plate press I have been getting dark presses. Thought it must be the material but just pressed the same batch of flower and here are the results. First press on 3t press came out butter crumble like most(but not all) from the 3t. I pulled my top plate off and measured temp with my Terpometer and it was a steady 10° lower temp on the plate vs the display. Never temped the 3x3 plates. I pressed this a half hour ago at 190° on the display at 8-900lbs on the material(3.5g in a 2x2 120u bag bottle tech). I kept it at around 1-200lbs till I saw the bag get wet(about 2 minutes) then slowly went to 800 for 90 seconds, yielded about .3 then repressed at 205° for another 90 seconds and got about another .2 for a total of half a gram. I have pressed other strains as low as 170° on the display and get similar results. I was getting better yield and quality with the smaller press and I was putting almost as much pressure as I could get sometimes with better results. WTF? Lol. Pic below shows what’s left of my first press with the same flower.
Same materiel a couple months older. Stored at 62%
My other thermometer matches my earlier results. Effects are the same but the darker press doesn’t tast as good.
Thanks. So the next time I get flower that presses well I i should put the rest of what I plan on pressing in the freezer?
My next couple of presses will be cold water hash, how should that be stored prior to pressing? Thanks for all of your help, @Gman and everyone else.
A couple weeks ago I pressed one gram of cold water hash so far and got the best half gram of rosin “I” ever made. Tasted great, and It melted a nice color in the banger and was very clean and easy to mop up. I just don’t have the variety of strains like I do flower. Next time I’ll do 2 grams and hope to get a gram or more and hope it comes out as good. I’m thinking and hoping it is easier to replicate.
it's called Perraden Hash by CTPharma in CT. We have weird names but I guess the common name is DogWalk OG. It doesn't taste bad by any stretch but it doesn't taste good either but the high is great! Very heady. So far I mixed it with herb in the Dynavap, put it with cotton in the Dynavap, that tasted like a burnt t-shirt... and "dabbed" in on a Ditanium. I don't know what to try next
