Portable Vaporizers

  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

i use a guitar pick it works great.
  • Which dry herb vaporizer produces the coolest temperature vapour, the Pax or Firefly?

Cool idea. I have the same complaints about carts, so I'm intrigued to try this out. Got lots of tubing sizes to work with.

Interesting. I might try this out tonight.martinstraka8282

It turns a cart into a little mini-dab appliance. Usually, a cart is too harsh to really suck one in (it is for me) but with a water bong, I can take four times the intensity of the hit, so it's impact is pretty strong (assuming good carts).

so I use carts too. what cart vape pen do you use with water?anndax

    You could use any battery.

the rubbing of the pad on the lid....makes me think of moping up gravy with a diner roll!LabPong

Exactly. You can "sop" a FF2 lid :nerd:
  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

I just use a ss flat edge dab tool. Works great.
    OR
Sometimes I'll rub the entire concentrate pad on the lid reclaim, and pop her in.

Thanks as well...any good candidates for a scrapping tool or just scrape with dab tool?
  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

Thanks...guess I will stop scrubbing with the alcohol pad to get off and start scrapping with something that won’t scratch the glass.
  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

Yes Hermes.....let that oil build up on the 2 inner plates....it is not hurting anything....maybe giving you some extra taste if anything!

The build up is not like normal abv and is very usable.....the spent abv will stay in your pad and bowl area.

When it gets built up enough.....you scrape it off and then put it back on the pad......no you got free trates! WINNING! :ok:
  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

Much more than normal. That is a lovely feature of the FF2. Beautiful "lid reclaim"
That reclaim is often super nice and tasty.
  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

Re: concentrates on ff2+ pad, starting to see a build up of oil/reclaim on the inside of top glass over the bowl...is this normal? or am I putting too much oil on the pad?
  • MV1 by Ghost Vapes

TL;DR - While I am having some hardware issues with my Ghost, I find that it hits VERY hard and is actually very easy for me to use. I have no issues getting decent vapor. I do think the device is picky on how you pack your crucibles and how you pull the air. I definitely prefer it over the FF2+.

New Vaper(?) here. I decided to move to flower vaping recently and did a TON of research into what device I would spend my money on. I liked the idea of the Ghost and the Firefly 2+ (more focused on flavor than massive clouds), but the mixed reviews and results from others had me extremely worried. Being new, I wanted something that would be easier to use and get used to. However, I typically smoke alone and don't require a ton to successfully medicate myself, so I really wanted a "on-demand" device.

Fast forward, I actually ended up with both the Ghost and the FF2+.

Ex bought me the Ghost as a surprise gift and I bought myself the FF2+ without knowing she got me the Ghost. I ended up picking up a fast charger and crucible dispenser after deciding I wanted to keep the Ghost.

Design: The Ghost is overly designed in my opinion. It's VERY flashy and looks like a tuner car standing on it's side. I don't like that the mouthpiece wiggles in the vapor path and I don't like the crucible door (more on this in a moment). With that all being said, it fits my hand and is comfortable to hold. I like that I can pack 5 or 6 crucibles and quickly swap them as needed through the day. So design is a mixed bag for me. For comparison, I think he FF2+ feels better with it's materials but does feel a little more awkward in my hand while using. The FF2+ is a big more classy in my opinion as well.

Performance: I didn't really have much of an issue using the Ghost. The first few pulls were a little on/off while I dialed in how to pull best. Once I got it, the clouds definitely started to roll in. Excellent flavor, the effects are definitely there as well. It's a joy to use overall. For comparison, I am STILL struggling to use my FF2+. The herb burns uneven for me and seems to be way more picky on how the air is pulled.. I get extremely variable results from he FF2+.

Issues: Unfortunately, I am having some issues with my Ghost. Like I said, it's only a couple of days out of the wrapper and it is overheating quickly on "low" settings and the latch for the crucible keeps popping open on me. It also feels very "mushy?" when trying to close the door.. it does not have great click feedback that typically instills confidence when closing anything. I have contacted Ghost support and am still waiting to hear back. This was a gift from an Ex that recently packed up and bounced, so I hope they are able to help me. We will see! For comparison: The FF2+ stays relatively cool to the touch and has had no failures. The big issue with the FF2+ is a weird coil whine when charging to pulling.. it legit pierces my ear drums even though its a very subtle sound.

In the end, if the hardware stuff gets sorted on my Ghost, I will be a customer for a long time to come. I love the device and really want any potential buyers reading this message to give it a shot. As I am new to vaping in general, if I can do it.. anyone really should be able to.

rinse if you want to use shortly after.....this is just my normal process as I do it for any part I clean weekly/daily.
  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

Any risk with just allowing plenty of time for the alcohol to evaporate?upside

I don't rinse, but I do a dry run after cleaning.... the heat takes care of the iso.
  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

Yes...use 91% or higher ISO. And with any vape parts cleaning with ISO....rinse off well with hot water after the ISO.LabPong

Why the rinse? Any risk with just allowing plenty of time for the alcohol to evaporate?

great tips! sincerely appreciated. I assume the pad soak is in iso? Also interest in low temps for the pad...what is the lowest you’ve gone?

For temps with the pad and concentrates....that would be mainly effected by your concentrate being used. But for example....I use 460F on the low end for taste with my rosin....but normally just use 370F. You could probably go a step lower than 460F.....but you will have to test that yourself to see what happens with your trates being used.

I'm normally a mid temp user on all my vapes no matter if herb or concentrate type.

I religiously clean my ff2+ with alcohol wipe after each flower bowl...should I be doing the same with the pad in?Hermes

I usually let the pad go 3 to 4 sessions. For me....I put enough on the pad to get 5-8 good pulls...sometimes more pending on how long I draw. You can let it build up some in the pad, but more so on the lid and lower mirror section. But try not to let anything build up on the bowl screen. You can use a lightly dampened ISO qtip with vape upside down and just get the bowl sides and bottom when you notice too much build up ...or basically any on the screen. I keep the screen as free of drips off the pad as I can.

Then get a small glass or cup and soak the pad overnight or for 6 hours. Then rinse it out and refill and let soak again. You will know how many times to do this all depending on the material and how much use.

I’ve seen that too. However, with a 20% coupon I can get a new + for $200. If I bought a used version I would send it in for service to be upgraded which would diminish the savings.
    fatbiker

From my real life experience with 3 different FF'2.......one regular FF2 I have has more restriction than the other. One of them hits exactly like my FF2+. That one is the late model jetblack FF2. So from my perspective.....you would not need to do the $30 upgrade. You can...but you also might not get anything out of it. Be that as it may.....I have now seen a few $90-120 for sale FF2's.....in great shape!

So yea....it may not be that big of a savings to get the new warranty and new battery by just spending more on the FF2+. I'm just saying....I know a price point for many people is well below $200 on what they would spend and find worth it.

With a little ingenuity, gauze, and medical tape all things are possible. Sometimes you gotta shove a round piece in a square hole.
  • Firefly 2+ (FF2)

    that is funny!...
i actually just got a dynacoil from sneaky Pete for an extra M I had laying around.., it was only $25 plus free shipping so thought I’d give it a whirl.
I was looking at the whole FF2 vs FF2+ for the same reason @EconMan and his unwavering support for it with concentrates. I hadn’t realized there was 20% off ... hmmmm thanks

A larger online vape store is close to where I live. I have the owners cell and talked to him about my desire to buy a FF2. He said he coul$nt, in good faith, recommend the FF2. He all but refused to sell it to me. I told him @EconMan said it was good for concentrates and I want to try it. He suggested the Dynacoil. I left it at that.
