quick update ... i've been using the yocan uni for a couple of weeks and i really like it. i haven't had any issues and i like that it looks somewhat like a modbox ... so it draws less attention (my opinion) ... i also like the adjustable hole diameter to fit any size cartridge ... no rattling around for smaller diameter cartridges.
I prefer flower over everything. I tend to overdo Carts and concentrates because their effects come on fast and strong but don’t last very long to me. I end up over the top and need at least a day off from everything, while feeling like crap for a day. Harder for me to get over medicated on flower. I try to stay under 20% thc flower, 15% seems to be my sweet spot.
i much prefer actual bud (entourage effect and all) but i do use the carts most of the time for out and about ... i actually went back yesterday and bought a second uni since the 20% off sale was yesterday only! i mean for 22 bucks ...
well i went to my local shop and they had the uni but not the pckt ... the uni was $27 and there was a 20% off memorial day sale so for just a little over 21 bucks i figured i would give it a go!
it's on the charger now ...
edit: this little thing isn’t bad ... much better than the exxus rebrand that didn’t accept the ccell size cartridges so you had to use an extender that left the entire cartridge exposed ... i’m actually surprised by the difference in performance ... i still might try a pckt sometime!
Yeah. The big difference. Think of the Uni as a "mod" and the PCKT as an appliance. I like the simplicity yet still considerable power range of the PCKT which produces a better tasting vape IMO and that is really important to me. For versatility, the Uni is probably better.
I like the PCKT much more. I mean, I REALLY like it. Did not realize how much a battery could alter taste. I got mine from @VapePartsMart and he offers I believe a 10% discount for new customers from here? Check the promos and codes page.
i'm thinking of getting a different battery setup for cartridges ... has anyone tried both the pckt one plus and the yocan uni ... i think i'm leaning towards the uni ... any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!
Think about what a "cart" is? A ultra-cheap disposable vaporizer with who knows what materials used in its construction. There is no cart on earth that does not taste like shit, at least to taste-chasers like me. Even my own oil when put in a premium cart tastes metallic no doubt from the cheap-ass atomizers in the carts. Combine this with the additional sin that most people use the cheapest possible batteries -- gas station $10 ones -- and you have a recipe for nastiness. :vomit:
I use carts at home ONLY with water, and when mobile and in stealth mode I use a high-end battery (PCKT and SILO).
Now, there are carts, and the contents of carts. This is the problem. Fakes everywhere, oil quality varies greatly across producers, and it is difficult to know in advance how your oil was made and what is in it. Even legit shops have suffered from lab inconsistency.
Most high-end carts nowadays are filled with "distillate" which means all the components were removed with terps and cannabinoids put back in (not necessarily the SAME ones extracted in that run, and all not necessarily put back in).
There is a cost of purity. Take a near 100% THC cart, ad a couple drops of terps (tast) to it, and the potency is less by definition. It's why exceptionally strong carts (90'ish%) tast blah... not much in them but THC.
I'm not a pain patient -- well, at least physical pain -- but I do believe I've learned from others that if pain management is your goal, there are many more knobs to learn how to turn than "THC" ?
I am sure of one thing. Vaping is NOT good for you. It doesn't necessarily have to be horribly BAD for you, it certainly is not good for a pair of lungs, especially the way most people do carts. To take a deep lungful of HOT and DRY air, damages your lungs (one of the big damaging aspects of cigarette smoking was filtered cigarettes -- users started taking deeper bigger hits and burned their lungs leaving so much scar tissue. This is before any chemicals are considered. My suspicion is convection vapes are even worse since it is the air itself that must be made hot. BTW, in this respect, putting ice water in your dab rig, the worst fucking thing you can do. Removes so much moisture from your lungs making them ripe for irritation and infection.
My advice is do NOT over-inhale a cart. Do not take a seriously bigger hit than you can handle. And if you do decide to hammer carts, use lukewarm water.
Oh yea the iTaste features i bought it for is the variable voltage (digital screen and 0.1 increments from 3.0v to 6.0) fyi most carts dont need about 3.7? And another cool feature is the "count clock" which tells u how many times u hit the cart until u turn off the vape.. thats about it..Cept for that the battery is fine.. I have the bigger 850mah version so I can easily vape 1gram cart on full charge w/o recharging(I also noticed i got 175 full 10 seconds hits off this cart).. I hope that is useful info
Been thinking about one of these. I use a "ganja pen" when I use carts. I don't know if it's 'better' than average, but it works, a lil hot for my lungs. not a big fan of carts, so I don't need this... But. For some reason I want one to try
The auto draw on my pckt+ stopped working. When I use the fire button it works fine and is responsive to all the button commands but i swapped out several diff carts so far and can’t get it to engage without pressing the button. I dropped one of the carts into my original pckt and it works. Anyone have this issue yet? I’m going to email the company.
Thanks for the quick reply, that's what I was leaning towards! I'll grab one today, along with their SPRK cartridge they sell.
I'm mostly bedridden due to chronic illness and pain so stealth isn't an issue for me, but it seems like regardless of size it's a pretty solid unit for pretty much any cartridge out there. That said, if you can recommend a larger unit that might perform even better, I'm totally down for that also. Luckily size/stealth isn't currently an issue for me. Would you still recommend this guy as a main unit?
Kind of hijacking this thread, so I'll start a new one, but considering all of the 420 sales popping up, I'd like to get some advice on a good vape that can do flower, also. So many options. Pax 3, Crafty/Mighty, M Pen... it can be overwhelming! Glad I found this forum.
The PCKT+ is the best stealth battery I've ever used. The autodraw works flawlessly, and there is a button (what I do not like about the SIlo) if you fill your own with thick oil. I use it like the little hex wrench on a garbage disposal one keeps nearby for when it jams.
Hmm, thanks. Torn between iTaste, Swan, and Pckt. Can anyone chime in? Seems like the latter two are more versatile, and fit more carts (CCELL for sure). They also each come with magnets to help both .5 and 1g carts stay snug; the iTaste does not. Not sure how important this is. The Pckt and Swan come optional refillable cart also, which is nice. I don't think the iTaste can handle that...?
I can get the Swan for $33 shipped right now, if that helps anyone sway me!
Wow, I have been running my PCKT on red...hottest temp...and find a long draw using auto-draw gives me very good hit. I don't seem to have any issue with the mag adapter fitting well. Perhaps that's the issue????
I haven't seen my cart contents get dark or taste burnt....but I have the taste buds of a cow...really, no sophisticated pallet here, my friends.
Im in the same boat...I won a pckt one plus here a few weeks ago. I have plenty of cart/battery experience but I just can’t get the pckt one plus to work well, same issue as you. That paired with the price and weight I don’t think it’s a great buy over some alternatives
Edit* also having to keep it on the higher voltage pretty much ruined any cart I put in it after a day or two , burnt taste and darkens the material , that’s with commercial carts as well as distillate and a wax to mix cart
No one else is having problems with their unit not working good?
I have to turn it all the way up to the hottest setting to get a mediocre hit....I tried pushing in the little pin in the center of the magnetic adapter...but it did not help to reset it like that. (that is what the tool is they sell separately that also holds a spare cart).
HI Econo - yeah, I got an empty refillable cart with my PCKT also.....but have nothing to put it in....is this the SPARC cartridge?
I don't have a Silo but do have the CCell Palm which is so small and pocketable. I don't travel with vapes much, but when I did that little dude was perfect.
TBH, I still like my little Eleaf Nano...nope, not a "hide the cart" type battery, but small, with a screen display, and variable wattage up to a pretty good max. If you want smaller but not necessarily travel type, maybe look at this one or the Pico which has removable Li Ion batteries.
With regards to "vaping experience" what's the real difference between the fire button and auto-draw? I switched to manual mode for a few hits and I think I got a much bigger hit with the fire button/manual fire than using the the auto draw but I feel as though I might have allowed my cart to get too hot. I didn't get too much of a burned taste though. I use distillate carts for the most part. Anyone else?
